Story line: Gauhar Khan…… Item number Seen through the eyes of a police officer, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai traces the changing face of the Mumbai underworld. The film, set primarily in 1970-Mumbai, follows the rise of Sultan (Ajay Devgn), and his eventual fall, when his protégé Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi), challenges his supremacy, and usurps power to rule the murky underbelly of Mumbai. The film is presented in a retro chic style and is a glamorous and powerful rewind to the golden era. Haji Mastanwho play Ajay Devgn, his good relation with Dawood Ibrahim who play Emraan Hashmi, his obsession with actress Madhubala who play Kangana Ranaut and his renouncement of crime in his later years. Haji had lived a very interesting life, and to that extent there is a wonderful story here, of a man with many contradictions in his personality. He was a smart smuggler, successful distributor and producer of Hindi movies, and a politician. He is said to have formed the Dalit Muslim Surakhsha Maha Sangh in 1985-86. But after some time Haji and Dawood both can not maintain his relationship and become dispute between. Just call as Dawood and one time his right hand Rajan. Now both is very competitor and also want to kill any one. Dawood and Rajan on this topic already Company movie making.
My Gut Feel and comments : After the success of LOVE, SEX AUR DHOKHA Ekta Kapoor presents ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI directed by (TAXI NO. 9211, KACHCHE DHAAGE & DEEWAR: LETS BRING OUR HEROES HOME fame) Milan Luthria. Milan Luthria is around for quite some time now and seems to have hit the right note now with his current offering. Promo’s are impressive with even impressive star cast. Both Ajay Devgan and Emraan hashmi looking great in the role of Gangsters. Although I am not expecting this movie as good as Company , sattya or sarkar from the same league. Still I am expected it to be a good watchable movie and my gut feal is that it would do reasonably good business over all as no big release is lined up for next two weeks. I would give 3 starts of 5 to this movie and looking forword for the release.

    MOVIE REVIEW :

    Hi All,

I have seen the movie yesterday itself. I must say that Milan Luthria as a director had improved from his last movies and offered a decent masala flick. First half of the movie is brilliant however sorry to say but second half is week. Dialogues are exceptionally good. Both Ajay Devgn and Imran hasmi performed brilliantly and justified the offered roles. Ajay Devgn's screen presence is majestic in this movie and I am great fan of him personally. Movie would definitely do good business as I commented in my movie preview. This long english title "Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai" should have been avoided and second half should have been better which are the two week links else over all movie is good and entertaining and a must watch movie. This time I would stick to my 3 out for 5 ratings.

    Regards,
    Rajat Narula
